About

An early shot of Sammy Sosa in 2000 taken with the Mavica that showed me how cool capturing moments could be

I have been taking pictures for all of my life. I have always been the guy who has his camera ready in case something happens. I guess that things started with a little blue Fisher Price camera when I was in my teens. I always liked taking pictures, but the cost of developing them held me back. Then in 2000 a simple purchase by my father changed things dramatically. He bought a Sony Mavica. I started taking it with me when I would travel, and the pictures really started flowing. The only downside was that my pockets were always filled with 3.5 floppies. I then moved on to a couple of point and shoots that were my own, but neither of them cold match up to the Mavica. Five years ago I bought a digital SLR and things have heated up ever since. My Rebel XT saw a lot of places, and too many pictures for even it to count. In late August I bought a Canon 60D which would allow me to shoot things that I have not been able to shoot yet. With the new camera came the knowledge that I still had a lot to learn. This blog will hopefully give me the push to become a better photographer. I have set an initial goal of posting a picture a day for the next year. Where I go after that remains to be seen. Having to find something to shoot everyday should open my eyes a little more to things that I would not normally look at. That has been the fun so far of starting to take photography seriously. I really see things differently than I used to.
